SEASONAL STYLING
As the summer sun softens and stretches into an orange autumn we are reminded why September is one of our favourite months at the Boule-in. The changing seasons are something we relish as we look to gradually restyle our home for the months ahead. A few small changes can make all the difference.
Colour - Colour is heavily associated with the seasons. The cool shades of blue in the winter become the fresh greens of spring which turn into the yellows of summer falling into the oranges of autumn. We try to embrace colour where we can. Something as simple as displaying a different French plate, or using a different coloured vase helps to create a seasonal atmosphere. This September we are going orange, there is something so indulgent in the voluptuous autumn colours.
Nature - We are firm believers in bringing the outside in. Whether this be bulbs in the spring, cut flowers in the summer, ripened fruit in the autumn or wreaths at Christmas. Plants, foliage and garden produce are a brilliant way to seasonally decorate your home. This autumn we are embracing the over abundance of dahlias in the garden. One or two blooms in a favourite vase or jug instantly bring colour and joy to any space.
Fabric - Texture, pattern and colour can make huge changes in your styling throughout the year. Something as simple as changing a cushion cover or simply swapping the tea towel in your kitchen can have a huge impact. Rugs are always lovely to reinclude to your home at this time of year. Our favourite are always from The Rug and Carpet Studio. You can never have too many table cloths; this is a brilliant way to instantly create a new feel around your table. Faro is a must stop for beautiful table furnishings.
Scent - To us smells are just as important as visuals to create a magical atmosphere. This can be from flowers and foliage or simply try rotating your candle scents with the seasons. Our personal favourite this month is Sea Salt and Woodsage from The White Candle Company. In a few months time we will be switching to their Winter scent to fill our home with the sweet smell of Christmas.
