HISTORY OF THE BOULE-IN

The Boule-in emerged from the ‘sea change’ that occurred in our lives in 2008 when Peter was offered a military posting to Provence working with the French Army Air Corps.  We enthusiastically swapped Suffolk life for a French idyll - but finding myself out of a job for the first time in my life and with Peter occupied with the challenges of his new job, I needed a little more than sunshine to occupy my days. I drew on a background in art and antiques and began to trawl the local Brocantes and Vide Greniers… That was 16 years and a lifetime ago!

We returned to our Suffolk home in Bildeston in 2011 with a lorry load of French furniture and pieces for the house and garden, thus The Boule-in was born. Initially launched from just a single tent in the garden, it has grown into a myriad of theatrically curated seasonal spaces within our garden and barn - always aspiring to retain that initial joy and charm of pottering in Provence…

We bought our own French home, a rundown Maison de Maître, in the centre of Cotignac in 2015 and continue to enjoy an adventurous life together, living and working between Provence and Suffolk.
