Pair of French Empire Chairs
A lovely pair of mahogany framed French Empire armchairs from the early 19th Century. The arms are finely carved to represent a dauphin (the dolphin represented the heir to the throne) and the chairs upholstered in a green and gold silk fabric with laurel wreath motif which remains in extremely good condition. Comfortable, sturdy and very stylish, these chairs would have been in an entrance hallway or drawing room but would sit equally well in a bedroom. Sold as a pair.
